The team mid-working session around a shared table

Origin

We started because good founders were building alone.

Bootstrapped teams across Africa were trying to assemble research, design, engineering, marketing, sales, finance and legal capacity one hire at a time — usually while trying to serve their first customers. Afrifounders was created to bring that capacity together and walk the journey with them.

African worldview. Global ambition.

Africa is not only a market to enter. It is a source of problems worth solving, talent worth backing and companies worth building. We start from that, and we design ventures that can travel wherever the opportunity supports it. African origin is an advantage in these markets: we understand the infrastructure, the customer reality and the way business actually gets done here. It is not a boundary on where a venture can go.

The group today

Five arms, with the Venture Studio at the centre.

The long-term intention is for these arms to stand independently as companies. They are being built toward that; none is claimed as separately incorporated today.

  1. Venture Studio

    Main arm

The centre of the group: where ventures are discovered, validated, built and launched.

    Active Explore Venture Studio
  2. Labs

    Technology arm

Product, design, engineering, AI, research, experiments and the platforms our ventures run on.

    Active Explore Labs
  3. Business School

    Learning arm

Practical business education for Nigerian and African realities. Starting with one-day seminars and virtual short courses.

Active · launch phase Explore Business School
  4. Digital Media

    Media arm

Storytelling, content, production and distribution for our businesses and the wider ecosystem.

    Active Explore Digital Media
  5. Network

    Ecosystem arm

A planned angel network where individual investors discover and independently evaluate opportunities. Not operational, not a fund.

    In development Explore Network
  6. Programmes

    Across the group

The Graduate Trainee Programme and the Venture Fellowship are structured initiatives that draw on every arm. They are not an institutional arm of the group.

How we behave.

  1. We say the number we can prove, and nothing more.

If a claim cannot be evidenced and attributed, it does not go on the site, in a deck or in a pitch.

  2. We take the seat, not just the meeting.

Our people run functions inside ventures and are measured on the same outcomes as everyone else in the room.

  3. We say no in week one rather than month nine.

A clear early no protects the founder's time as much as ours.

  4. We hand over what we build.

A venture that cannot run without us daily is not finished, however good it looks.

People

Nobody is published here without a confirmed current role.

Founder, leadership, partner, adviser and facilitator profiles are published only with a verified name, a current photograph, an approved relationship to Afrifounders, an approved biography and consent to publish. A programme mentor is not an Afrifounders partner, and an adviser is not a member of the team — so those groups are kept separate rather than merged into one wall of faces.

  1. Founders & group leadership

Verified name, current Afrifounders role, external role and approved biography.

  2. Partners

An approved commercial or institutional relationship, with its scope stated.

  3. Advisers

Their own external role and the area they advise on, with consent to publish.

  4. Programme facilitators & mentors

Shown in programme contexts, not as group leadership.

Operating team

Listed by function, not by headcount.

No headcount claim appears here. Capacity per function is confirmed venture by venture.

Building businesses that build our world.

The ventures we build should make something measurably better for the people who use them — and be strong enough to last without us.
