Origin
Bootstrapped teams across Africa were trying to assemble research, design, engineering, marketing, sales, finance and legal capacity one hire at a time — usually while trying to serve their first customers. Afrifounders was created to bring that capacity together and walk the journey with them.
Africa is not only a market to enter. It is a source of problems worth solving, talent worth backing and companies worth building. We start from that, and we design ventures that can travel wherever the opportunity supports it. African origin is an advantage in these markets: we understand the infrastructure, the customer reality and the way business actually gets done here. It is not a boundary on where a venture can go.
The group today
The long-term intention is for these arms to stand independently as companies. They are being built toward that; none is claimed as separately incorporated today.
Main arm
The centre of the group: where ventures are discovered, validated, built and launched.
Active Explore Venture Studio↗Technology arm
Product, design, engineering, AI, research, experiments and the platforms our ventures run on.
Active Explore Labs↗Learning arm
Practical business education for Nigerian and African realities. Starting with one-day seminars and virtual short courses.
Active · launch phase Explore Business School↗Media arm
Storytelling, content, production and distribution for our businesses and the wider ecosystem.
Active Explore Digital Media↗Ecosystem arm
A planned angel network where individual investors discover and independently evaluate opportunities. Not operational, not a fund.
In development Explore Network↗Across the group
The Graduate Trainee Programme and the Venture Fellowship are structured initiatives that draw on every arm. They are not an institutional arm of the group.
Not an arm See the programmes↗If a claim cannot be evidenced and attributed, it does not go on the site, in a deck or in a pitch.
Our people run functions inside ventures and are measured on the same outcomes as everyone else in the room.
A clear early no protects the founder's time as much as ours.
A venture that cannot run without us daily is not finished, however good it looks.
People
Founder, leadership, partner, adviser and facilitator profiles are published only with a verified name, a current photograph, an approved relationship to Afrifounders, an approved biography and consent to publish. A programme mentor is not an Afrifounders partner, and an adviser is not a member of the team — so those groups are kept separate rather than merged into one wall of faces.
Verified name, current Afrifounders role, external role and approved biography.
An approved commercial or institutional relationship, with its scope stated.
Their own external role and the area they advise on, with consent to publish.
Shown in programme contexts, not as group leadership.
The ventures we build should make something measurably better for the people who use them — and be strong enough to last without us.
